So besides being a cool chick who’s fun to hang out with, sweet, and one of the kindest people I know, my friend Crissy Calhoun just finished writing her third companion to the CW’s hit series, The Vampire Diaries. I say all this because it’s true, but to also let y’all know upfront that I know the author of the book I’m about to review. Having said that: I LOVED IT! (I know what you’re thinking, I’m biased, but I’m not.)
“No, no, no, no! Did I mention no?” – The Vampire Diaries (3×22) Recap
Love You to Death is a great read all around. Not only does Calhoun give insight into each episode, but she does so without being too recappy. This book is written for the already initiated fan, but can be enjoyed by a newbie to the fandom. Just as long as they take her advice and watch each episode before reading her write-up about it. Not only does it keep spoilers at bay, but it also makes it easier to understand for people just checking out the show for the first time.
“Just between us girls, which one would you have chosen?” – The Vampire Diaries (3×21) Recap
Besides writing about each episode, she also ties them together by explaining previous storylines, things that don’t seem to make sense with what we already know, and a section that ties the history of the series to real world history. The book is filled with photos, brief guest-star biographies, cast and crew interviews, a per episode music list, and so much more. As I stated earlier, this is Calhoun’s 3rd companion book to The Vampire Diaries which will officially be released on October 1st (according to the author), but the first two can already be purchased in stores, or online (book 1 and book 2).
Book Review: Stefan’s Diaries – The Compelled
What I love most about these books is that The Vampire Diaries mythology is incredibly dense. These books are a great help helping the viewer piece everything together, remember tidbits previously forgotten, and keep track of all the awesome music used on the show. Also, the handy timeline at the back of the books is a godsend. If you are a fan of this television series, you won’t regret picking up a copy today.
