Book Review: Quitter

So a funny thing happened while reading The Shining. People kept handing me books, and I kept putting it down to read them.

After the week I spent reading the 50 Shades trilogy, the library sent me the next Pretty Little Liars Book. Last week I planned to get back to The Shining, but while I was on my way to pick up take-out for a babysitting job I agreed to, I found this book in the car.

Quitter is by Jon Acuff, and is a self-help book for those looking to finally pursue their dreams. Acuff runs a successful blog, speaks at conferences, and is now working on his 4th book. Quitter explains why you shouldn’t quit your day job before coming up with a plan to keep you and your family off of Skid Row.

I laughed within seconds of reading the book, and Acuff’s humorous take on a serious topic made the book entertaining, and not preachy. Loaded with good advice, I would recommend Quitter for anyone who is contemplating throwing caution to the wind in pursuit of their dreams.

For now, I plan to return to The Shining before the next books I’m wait-listing at the library become available. Considering I’ve only ever finished three Stephen King books in the past, the odds are not in my favor.
